Reading Rockets
Reading Rockets offers a range of reading strategies, lessons, and activities designed to help children learn how to read and read better. The resources are aimed at helping struggling readers build fluency, vocabulary and comprehension skills.
School Self-Evaluation
School Self-Evaluation (SSE) provides opportunities for schools to examine their own practice within their own context and to report on their strengths and areas for improvement to their own school community. This DES website contains information and resources on SSE.
Social Research Update
Social Research Update is published quarterly by the Department of Sociology, University of Surrey and presents online a range of articles on different aspects of doing research in the Social Sciences.
Solutions Centre
Insoo Kim Berg and Arnoud Huibers, founded Solutions Centre, an international organisation which aims to disseminate the Solution-Building Model through training and consultation. A competency-focused questionnaire for working with children is available for download from the website.
Special Education Support Service
The Special Education Support Service (SESS) co-ordinates, develops and delivers a range of professional development initiatives and support structures for school personnel working with students with special educational needs in mainstream primary and post-primary schools, special schools and special classes in Ireland. The site contains useful information and resources across a range of areas.
Speed, Agility & Quickness - SAQ
SAQ training is a system of progressive exercise and instruction aimed at developing fundamental motor abilities, balance, co-ordination and ultimately better control of body movement. PE teachers from some NBSS partner were trained to implement and use the system with students. SAQ training for students involves the teaching of selected motor skills (speed, agility, and quickness), employs the same techniques and protocols used by professional athletes and is suitable for all students including students with ADHD, Dyspraxia, and Dyslexia This site provides information on the training system.
SPHE Support Service
Social, Personal and Health Education, as part of the curriculum, supports the personal development, health and well-being of young people and helps them create and maintain supportive relationships. The SPHE support post-primary schools in the implementation of the Social, Personal and Health Education programme for students in the Junior Cycle.

Sycol provides solution-oriented training and have contributed to solution focused ideas in educational contexts with their Solution Oriented Schools programme (SOS).
The Motivated School
The Motivated School programme aims to promote a better understanding of the nature and effect of motivation on learners and explores the interactions between teachers and pupils, presenting new ways of engaging young people in learning.
United Kingdom Literacy Association
The United Kingdom Literacy Association (UKLA) is the professional association for those involved in literacy and language in the UK, including teachers, librarians and academics. It provides a regular newsletter, two journals - Literacy and The Journal of Research in Reading, other publications including books and papers and a programme of conferences.
