The NBSS model of support includes addressing academic literacy and learning needs, as well as the social and emotional literacy needs of students.

Students can be supported to achieve and succeed at school by developing 'Behaviour for Learning Skills', Social and Emotional Literacy Skills, Academic Literacy, Learning and Study Skills and Positive Health and Wellbeing Skills.

The National Behaviour Support Service offers three levels of support to second level schools:

The three levels of support apply to both behavioural and academic interventions and includes addressing academic literacy and learning needs, as well as the social and emotional literacy needs of students.
