At Level 2, the NBSS works with schools to employ evidence-based methodologies for identifying students who would benefit from additional skills development in a range of areas (including social, emotional, academic and behavioural skills). The NBSS helps schools to select, monitor and evaluate the targeted interventions used to develop students’ skills for learning.
The NBSS has developed a range of instruments, including learning behaviour checklists and student profiles, to facilitate schools in systematically implementing and evaluating initiatives undertaken with the groups of students who require more behavioural and academic support than is provided at Level 1. In a number of cases, the NBSS has provided further research support for Level 2 work in partner schools through pre- and post-initiative data analysis.
